Davy Holds Comfortable Lead RBTT National Junior Chess Championships

After four rounds of play, tournament defending champion Damion Davy of Camperdown High, holds a comfortable one and a half point lead in the 2009 RBTT National Junior Chess Championships, currently taking place at the RBTT Bank Head Office in New Kingston.

Davy (left) defeated one of his main rivals Phillip Pryce (right) on Sunday.At the end of round four on Sunday, Davy had secured the maximum four points from four games, ahead of Stuart James of Wolmer’s Boys, Paul Brooks of the University of the West Indies and Peter Thomas, who are tied in second place on 2.5 points each.

Campion’s Phillip Pryce is in fifth place on two points, followed by Zachary Ramsay of the University of the West Indies in sixth place on one and a half points and Laurence Davey and Lucien Rowe tied in seventh place on half point each.

After two rounds of play in the RBTT National Junior Girls Chess Championships, four of the five competitors are tied in first place on one point each, they include Ariel Barrett and Krishna Gray of Wolmer’s Girls, Margoe Williams and Campion College’s Ashley Ferguson. Samantha Nelson of Wolmer’s Girls is yet to get off the mark.

 

The final three rounds of each of the championships will take place this Saturday and Sunday at the RBTT Bank Head Office in New Kingston.
